Until recently, Japanese horticulture has mainly been focused with the domestic market. However, a recent move towards international offer and export has taken momentum. Japanese floral products have won international recognition and attracted interest. To answer to the rising interest from abroad it has become the mission of the JAPAN FLOWERS AND PLANTS EXPORT ASSOCIATION (JFPEA), an organization established officially in 2007 with ambitious Japanese floriculture producers, growers and distributors, to support the export of Japanese floral production through active PR activity. Besides promotion activities, JFPEA also performs market research leading, in recent years, to a steady increase of exports and market share.
Needless to say, the current strategy to increase the Japanese agricultural export also includes the floral production.
For 2016, 54 qualified organizations and companies have joined JFPEA.
